We've been waiting all summer for the low tide window to match up with our weekly family hike time. This past week it finally happened, and we were able to visit this adorable little island just off the coast of Marblehead, Massachusetts.
If you don't have a boat, you can walk across the channel an hour before dead low tide and get about an hour to enjoy the island with plenty of rocks to scramble on, tidepools to investigate, and beautiful seaside views to drink in.
Even though it was only about 50 degrees out, the kids cast off their sweatshirts and waded right into the water.
Only a fifteen minute drive from our house, we will definitely be visiting the island again. It's just the right size for an hour-long dose of fresh air, although if the weather were a bit warmer, I could certainly imagine us stretching our visit out over a morning and a picnic.
And there's nothing quite like a good walk along a beautiful shoreline ...
ReplyDeleteIt's so true, Linda! Thanks for stopping by. I never stop being awed that God arranged for us to live so close to the sea.
